John has extensive `hands-on' knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry gained from his time as a sales representative and subsequent roles in product management, district sales management, national sales management, business development, training and development, and marketing at senior executive level.
During the course of his career, John has had overall P&L responsibility for an entire pharmaceutical portfolio which included maximizing existing products and launching numerous new ones and many line-extensions. He has been heavily involved in sales force effectiveness projects at affiliate and regional level and brings experience spanning business theory through to implementation in many sales and marketing initiatives. He also has two years experience as International Sales and Marketing Manager for the Health and Nutrition division of Fonterra, the world's largest exporter of dairy products with turnover of 12.5 Billion NZD per annum. Here John managed twelve direct reports including 6 overseas.
John continues to be involved in healthcare, working with customers in private practice and in the public system. He has also run numerous sales and marketing programs for IMS over the past 2 years.
John holds a Bachelor's Degree from Auckland University majoring in Geology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business from Auckland University, majoring in Marketing. He later obtained his Masters of Business Administration (Executive) from Massey University in Auckland.
